How did Newark Triathlon club start?
The club is a recently established club set up by Tom Marshall (level 2 coach) and Wyn Thomas (founder of Newark Striders running club) with the aim to bring a Triathlon club to the area and a wider range of sport to the community.
What are your hopes for the club in 2019?
With the backing of the British Triathlon Federation our hope is to encourage more people to take up a healthy lifestyle by offering more variety of sport to become involved in. We hope to encourage existing athletes to try a new discipline and offer existing triathletes coaching and support with their technique to enhance their skills and prevent injury.
What does an average training week look like?
Members are encouraged to attend a leader lead run session, a coach-lead track session and a group bike session. Each session will have a structured plan and areas to develop whatever level the member is at. Whilst having the opportunity to train with like-minded individuals in a fun environment.
Swim sessions are set to begin early April and will cater for all levels from beginners to those looking to fine tune their skills.
What common questions are you asked?
“Is it for me?”We’ve aimed to make the club accessible to all abilities and if a member chooses to concentrate on 2 disciplines then we would still encourage them to join. We have members undertaking their first duathlon this year and who knows how many of those will go on to triathlon, but we will be there to support them however they develop.
What events are your members involved in?
We have members partaking in several events in 2019 ranging from the Midland Sprint series, The Nottingham Outlaw half and Full, Holkham half and Staunton Harold Duathlons. We are really excited to see our new Newark Triathlon club kit out and about at events this year.

If you're looking for a fun friendly Triathlon Club with enthusiastic encouraging coaches come and give us a try. It doesn't matter if you're a complete beginner or an experienced Triathlete we will offer support and the opportunity for personal growth. Whether you have a personal goal or just want to try something different we can offer structured training plan for all.
