The route has officially launched for the new Lincoln Half Marathon set to grace Lincoln city on 2 October 2016. Alongisde this, we have also launched a relay option, so that two people can take on the 13.1 mile challenge together.
The relay option will give those not quite ready for the full 13.1 miles the chance to enter and take part as a twosome! The first person will run from the showground to the Bailgate area and the second will run into town and back out to the showground.
This will be great fun, with the Bailgate acting as the changeover point, which is perfect for spectators with plenty of parking, restaurants and cafes nearby.
Those of you in training for the new Lincoln Half Marathon can now officially begin to prepare for the 13.1 mile route now that the course has been released!
Competitors will begin and finish at the Lincolnshire Showground, enjoying the flat straight down Burton Road into the Cathedral Quarter and the downhill slope to the Brayford Pool, before the real challenge begins in the form of a Yarborough Hill climb and a finish line dash.
Runners will have plenty of milestones to aim for along the route, including the cathedral, where live music will greet them, and the castle grounds where supporters will cheer them on.
There will also be another music hotspot on Yarborough Hill to give fundraisers a mental boost on the incline.
