Acts Trust's team of 'Couch to Half Marathon' runners took another step towards achieving their goal this week when a crowd of them attempted the next milestone on their training programme - a 10k run. They were up for the challenge and delighted that each runner completed the distance - which actually ended up being just over 11k! The team are raising money for Acts Trust who run several projects that aim alleviate poverty in Lincoln.
Jack (fifth from left) said 'I go to The Shed (a mens support group run by Acts), it's a great place where i've met some decent people. It gets me out, so this is a way to give something back'. Kevin (first on left) added, 'I'm glad to be doing this because not only is it for a good cause but it will help to keep me fit and motivated'.
Acts Trust supports people in many ways, including helping people who are finding it difficult to get work. Joining the team in raising money for Acts by running the half marathon is Peter (2nd from right with his son Max). He said 'I started coming along to the Job Club that Acts Trust were running. From there I began volunteering with their furniture aid project to keep me busy and focussed as well as attending their weekly support groups.' Peter now has a job and is grateful to Acts for the support.
Why not support Peter and the team by sponsoring them? You can do this via our JustGiving page (justgiving.com/ActsTrustLincoln) or by texting CTHM50 followed by the amount (eg CTHM50 £10) to 70070.
As Simon (4th from right) said when asked 'why'?.... 'Why not!'
