Twigg and Moore win Outlaw Half Holkham

Twigg and Moore win Outlaw Half Holkham

Posted by on 4th July 2017

Craig Twigg and Debbie Moore took the top spots at Outlaw Half Holkham as 1250 people finished the second edition of the middle-distance race at the stunning Holkham Estate in North Norfolk.

Twigg, from Leicester, has twice won the Outlaw full distance event and showed good form finishing third at the Outlaw Half Nottingham in May. He was amongst the favourites on the start line in Holkham, and at age 45 demonstrated that hard graft and good preparation pays off. Not only did he win the race, but also sliced nearly eight minutes off Reece Barclay’s course record and picked up a checked for £1500 as a result.

In fact, the whole top five finished inside the previous record, with Cornwall’s Neil Eddy second in 4:10:08 and Michael Birchmore third in 4:11:15.

Debbie Moore made it a double celebration for the Speedhub team by winning the women’s race from the start, setting the pace in the water and leading for the entire race. Emma Deary was second and the incredible Gill Fullen, who will be 53 this year and overcame cancer last year, was third.

The relay event was won by the Race Hub squad of Carl Shaw, Pete Nicholls and Tom Davis who set a very fast time of 3:49:25.

Prizes were awarded across categories up to Brian Herdman in the 70-74 age-group. Two Nottinghamshire based athletes also continued their run of Outlaw success. Gary Goacher and David Manning-Ohren have completed every full distance Outlaw event since 2010 and every Outlaw Half event in Nottingham and Holkham. They may have their work cut out next year if plans go ahead to add two more Outlaw events to the schedule in 2018. Dates for 2018 events will be announced soon and preregistration for the Nottingham Half event will start later this month.
