Cancer Research UK are expecting to achieve upwards of £180,000 fundraised from the Cambridge Half Marathon 2016, which would make it the best year yet. If this is achieved, it would take the total income from the Cambridge Half Marathon over 5 years to over £750,000!
There are 700, amazing, runners taking part in the Race for Cancer Research UK. With £180,000 Cancer Research UK can fund a trial into breast cancer for one whole year, potentially saving hundreds of lives.
Each year Cancer Research UK spends around £42 million on research around East Anglia. In fact their scientists based in Cambridge made a landmark discovery that could revolutionise the way they diagnose and treat breast cancer. They reclassified the disease into 10 new categories based on the genetic fingerprints of women’s tumours. They hope that in the future this will allow doctors to match each person to the treatment most likely to successfully tackle their cancer. Let's beat cancer sooner, with Cancer Research UK
